Learn more about Child Sponsorship

Child Sponsorship is the most effective and rewarding way to help give children better futures.

How does Child Sponsorship work?

What does Child Sponsorship do for the child?

When children find out they've been sponsored, the joy they feel is indescribable. Just knowing that someone across the globe cares means more than you can imagine. Sponsoring a child will profoundly change the future for your child, and will change your own life as well.

How do I make sponsorship payments?

You can pay by cheque, money order, credit card or PayPal.
There are options for contributing monthly, quarterly, or annually.

How much of my money goes to the child?

At URICT, we all work as volunteers. All the money which will be credited to our bank account will 100% go to your sponsored child. Only bank charges of about 5-7% will be deducted from your donation.

Can I get a tax deductible receipt?

Sponsors receive an tax receipt.

Sponsorship payments may be tax deductible depending on your personal tax position.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel at any time, for any reason.

We encourage sponsors to view sponsorship as a long-term partnership, but we understand that people’s circumstances change over time.

If you don’t want to cancel, but would like to adjust your donations, we have flexible options to suit your needs.

You and your sponsored child

How do I get to know my sponsored child better?

Most sponsored children love to receive letters and cards from their sponsors.
It can be a great source of encouragement for them to know that someone far away cares about them and their future.

What should I write about?

That’s up to you.
It's great that you want to write to your sponsored child. In many cases this could be the first time your sponsored child has ever received a letter!
Please note: URICT-Uganda places the highest priority on child protection. Because of this all letters/cards are opened, logged and vetted to ensure they don’t contain offensive or inappropriate content.

Can I send my sponsored child a gift?

Sending a gift is a great way to do something extra and personal.

Can I visit my sponsored child?

Finally, something you can do!

Yes, many sponsors add visiting their sponsored child to their overseas trip plans. They say it’s a rewarding way to see firsthand how contributions are helping make a difference.
